Well treated Roxyfet off to Market Rasen

6th December 2017

Richard Ball’s soft ground lover Roxyfet hasn’t got his head in front since March 2016, but he’s in good shape at the minute and he was only beaten half a length by our own Rhythm Of Sound at Sedgefield last Tuesday.

Roxyfet, a veteran of 63 chases despite his relatively tender age of seven, reverts to the smaller obstacles tomorrow to contest the concluding 2m1f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (3.30), where he’ll be partnered by Callum Bewley. He’s due to go up 6lbs for his Sedgefield effort so obviously we’re keen to run him again before his new mark kicks in, and this looked the best option.

The good to soft ground will suit but they’re forecast more rain and every drop will help Roxyfet’s cause, he gets weight from all seven of his rivals and all being well he’ll go very close. The biggest threat might be Pixiepot, who won her bumper here and has a couple of other good pieces of course form to her name.

Good luck to Roxy and also to our head girl Becky Smith, who has two rides at the same meeting. Becks will partner The Society Man, who hasn’t won since 2012 and is 10lbs out of the weights, for local trainer Michael Chapman in the 2m5f handicap chase at 1.20 and Ian Barran’s Exit To Freedom, who went very close off tomorrow’s mark four runs back, in the two mile handicap hurdle at 3.00.
