We have eight runners on Wednesday with seven travelling North to Sedgefield and one going South to Market Rasen.
We kick off in the 1.25.pm at Sedgefield double handed with Ex S Elance (Alain Cawley) and The VeryThing (Billy Garritty) Ex S Elance came right back to form last time finishing a very respectable second at Wetherby,a repeat of that will see him in the mix tomorrow, but this is a tougher looking race.We also run The Very Thing who is having his third run since joining us from Olly Murphy, he is a well handicapped horse, so if we can get him back to his very best there should be some fun to be had.
Kisumu goes in Division 2 at 1.55.pm and it definitely looks the weaker of the two divisions. Our conditional jockey Emma Smith-Chaston takes off a much needed 7 pounds as Kisumu is 4 pounds wrong at the weights, could tomorrow finally be 43rd time lucky.
Roxyfet (Emma Smith-Chaston) makes his 99th racecourse appearance in the 3.pm.,it was only nine days ago he took advantage of a 7 pounds lower mark over hurdles. He is back over fences tomorrow off a mark of 94, this is no gimme but he does go there at the top of his game in search of course win number eight.
Quoteline Direct was a late comer to hurdles but has provided a pleasant surprise. He was second on debut at Catterick back in November earning an official mark of 118 which is well ahead of what he is rated in comparison to his flat mark. He returned to Catterick on New Years Day and even so he threw his race away by pulling two hard he still ran close to 118, If Alain Cawley can persuade Quoteline to settle he will go very close in the 3.30.pm.
Strike West carries top weight in the 4.05.pm., he looked all over the winner at Haydock back in December only to be caught in the last stride, he appears to enjoy a marathon so the three miles and three furlongs should be right up his street, as at Haydock Billy Garritty is once again on board.
It’s a tough life being a consistent horse as the handicapper will show no mercy. Paddling who is yet to win this season has been raised a jaw dropping 9 pounds for four brave placed efforts since November, lets hope that in the 4.35.pm.he will finally get the win he deserves,Alain Cawley takes the ride.
Down at Market Rasen in the 2.10.pm. Joe Colliver is reunited with Blue Hussar,it was a mixture of dropping in the weights and class but more so the step up in trip which saw him regain the winning thread at the track nineteen days ago over the same trip. This horse who stays two miles on the flat has every chance of following up off a 6 pounds higher mark.
Good luck to all the connections.
