Our two representatives go head to head in the 5.0.pm, on Saturday evening, in a 0-60 handicap over the extended 12 furlongs.
Uccello had raced for his previous yard without showing any great promise on four occasions last season. On joining us he raced three times in juvenile hurdles without showing any great aptitude for the discipline, so he was returned to the flat at Newcastle 44 days ago over 10 furlongs, where he finished a well beaten eighth. On the plus side he has now been dropped to an all time low mark of 50, and our stable apprentice Aiden Brookes will take off 7lb.
We are also represented in the race by the very well related Mirrie Dancers whose half sister is the 113 RPR Lavender's Blue, who was a Group 2 winner at Goodwood last season. Mirrie Dancers has only raced on four occasions to date, three of those were for his previous yard last season as a three year old, where he finished midfield in a couple of good southern maidens. He made his debut for us at Southwell 26 days ago where he weakened from four out over 11 furlongs, on his first start in nearly eight months. The handicapper has dropped him by 5lb to 60, and Paul Mulrennan will ride him for the first time.
