Another wonderful season of racing at Pontefract comes to a close on Monday, where the going at the time of writing is soft, heavy in places.
Toby Two Scoops will make his nursery debut, after three qualifying runs at 2.45.pm, in the 0-75 handicap, over a mile, with Aiden Brookes, who has been on board the last twice in the saddle. Whatever Toby Two Scoops achieves this season will be a bonus, as he should strengthen up as a three year old. How the handicapper can justify giving him an opening mark of 58 is a head scratcher to say the least.
On her penultimate start Thursday's Child bounced back to form with a very creditable second at Carlisle, but she inexplicably failed to get anywhere near that form at Southwell last time. She was a course and distance winner back in April on soft ground, and the mark of 80 is within her compass. Thursday's Child runs at 3.45.pm, in the 0-75 handicap, over six furlongs, with Aiden Brookes who was on board at Carlisle, back in the saddle.
