WE ARE BACK AT PONTEFRACT ON TUESDAY.

We have two declared runners on Tuesday, with Gastibelza making her yard debut at Ludlow, where the going is currently soft, heavy in places, and Justus goes to Pontefract, for the start of their 2024 flat season, where the ground is also described as soft, heavy in places.

Gastibelza is an eight year old mare, who has raced exclusively in France to date, on 32 occasions, having made her chase debut as a three year old in 2019. She arrives at the yard with loads of experience, being the winner of four chases and two hurdle races to date. Gastibelza will face a maximum of just two rivals when she goes to post for the 0-120 mares only handicap chase at 2.0.pm, at Ludlow, over two and a half miles, with Alice Stevens taking the ride.

At Pontefract, Justus will contest the 0-85 'Jamaican Flight' handicap, over two miles and two furlongs, at 2.45.pm, where he will be partnered by our stable apprentice jockey Aiden Brookes. Justus arrived at the yard last October, having already won two staying flat races, and showing a liking for soft ground. He has wasted no time proving himself a more than useful hurdler for us, winning at Catterick on New Years Day, and earning a BHA mark of 116. Justus has only run this far once before on the flat, and the gut feeling is that he will get the trip.

Good luck to the connections, Samuel Sutton, and Ryder And Alex Sugden.
