TWO RUNNERS ON WEDNESDAY.

We have two declared runners at Hexham on Wednesday, where the going at the time of writing is good.

Both of our representatives will go head to head at 12.35.pm, in the 0-105 handicap hurdle, over two miles and four furlongs.

Ambassador who will be ridden by Emma Smith-Chaston for the first time, was a clear cut winner when making all at his favourite track Uttoxeter back in July, from a 2lb lower mark than now. He then ran with credit on the flat at Catterick a month later, but his three subsequent runs all over hurdles, where he once again tried to make all the running, have not seen him produce the same level of form. Ambassador will enjoy the expected going, and the visor he has worn on all of his last five starts has been replaced with cheek pieces, which he has worn previously.

Royle Steel is our other runner in the race, and he will be partnered by Joshua Thompson for the first time. Royle Steel who is a winner over hurdles, spent the whole of last season over fences producing his outstanding effort when winning from a 7lb higher mark at Sedgefield in October 2023. His five subsequent runs have failed to reach the same level, hence his drop in the weights. Royle Steel goes best on a sound surface, and is entitled to need this first start since June.

Good luck to the connections, The Cheltenham Trail, and A E Tasker.

Royle Steel.
