TWO RUNNERS AT THIRSK ON MONDAY EVENING.

We have two runners at Thirsk on Monday evening, with Graham Lee taking both rides. First up in the 8.30pm is Irv, making his belated seasonal debut. He was our most successful flat performer last season wining twice at York in June, and July, the later win coming from a mark of 78. Irv starts his four year old career from a mark of 82, and in the 262 days since he last ran, he has had wind surgery. By all accounts he has wintered well, and the trip, and going will be to his liking, but he may run over further, in the coming weeks.

Our other runner at 9.00pm is is the mare Convivial, who made the long trip down to Chelmsford earlier this month, only to blow her chance at the start, by being slowly away. She now races for the first time on turf, on the flat, over an extra two furlongs, her breeding suggests that the trip of 12 furlongs is within her compass. She has been given a good opportunity by the handicapper, being dropped 6lb from her last run, so if she can get away on level terms, she could go well at a big price.

Good luck to the connections, Irvine Lynch, and Grange Park Racing Xv1.
