TWO RUNNERS AT PERTH ON THURSDAY.

We send two up to Perth on Thursday afternoon, where the going at the time of writing is soft, good to soft in places.

The recent new recruit to the yard Trouble Shooter goes to post at 1.25.pm, in a two miles novices hurdle, with Conor O'Farrell taking the ride. Before joining us Trouble Shooter was already the winner of five flat races, three on the turf (including a soft ground win) and twice on the all weather. He had also ran twice over hurdles, finishing a good third at Southwell in June of this year, but back at the same track 13 days later he was a rather disappointing fourth, he has been given a BHA rating of 103. In his two starts for us on the flat he has failed to get competitive, so this return to hurdles will hopefully spark a revival.

We are also represented at Perth by Late Date who continues over hurdles at 5.20.pm, in a Northern Stayers qualifier over three miles, with Conor O'Farrell retaining the ride. Late Date has spent much of the last four seasons over fences but had badly lost his way, pulling up on five consecutive occasions between last November through to May of this year. We sent him back over hurdles in July at Perth, and although beaten 13 lengths into fifth place it was a big step back in the right direction. He has since returned to Perth, a track he has previously won at over hurdles, and finished second there last month, and although beaten 15 lengths, he still beat the other 10 rivals. His mark continues to drop, and just a little more improvement from this new mark of 87 will see him go close.
