We will be doubly represented at Kelso on Sunday, where the going is currently described as soft, and heavy in places on the hurdles course.
Penpal can go well fresh, as he proved when winning last May at Newcastle, defying over a year off the track, on his first start since wind surgery. It is now a further nine months since then, when he will reappear at 12.50.pm, in the 0-100 handicap hurdle, over two miles, with Emma Smith-Chaston on board for the first time. Penpal will race from a 6lb higher mark, and should have no problem on the ground.
The ex French Duo D'Enfer was a winner at Sedgefield on Boxing Day, showing at the age of 10 (now 11) that the ability that he had when trained in France, when winning four times, is still in tact. He has been handed a 4lb rise in the weights for that success, and he is a proven heavy ground performer. Duo D'Enfer goes to post for the 1.50.pm, which is a 0-115 handicap chase, over the extended two miles and five furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston retaining the ride.
