TWO DECLARED FOR WETHERBY OPENER.

Wetherby kick off their new jumps season on Wednesday, on what is currently described as good ground.

The ex French Coup De Coeur who has been keeping good company in France, will make his yard debut at 1.53.pm, in the novices hurdle, over the extended two and three furlongs with Becky Smith taking the ride. Coup De Coeur who is a five year old gelding has spent his time mixing hurdling with chasing, with the pick of his form probably being a second in Listed company over fences at Auteuil two years ago. He was last seen at La Teste De Buch in July, when finishing a six lengths third, later promoted to second. This will be the quickest surface he has faced to date.

Balkotic makes a quick return to the track, just a week after finishing down the field at Sedgefield. That was over a trip which would be a bare minimum, and this step up to three miles, will be very much in his favour. It was also his first start in over two months, so he will strip fitter. Balkotic who remains 2lb above his last winning mark, which was achieved at Catterick last November, runs at 4.40.pm, in the 0-120 handicap hurdle, with Emma Smith-Chaston, who has won on him before taking the ride.
