We send two runners up to Hexham where the going at the time of writing is good, and they are watering to maintain. At Ripon where we have one representative the going is also good.
Brickadank makes his flat handicap debut at Ripon in the 4.15.pm, a 0-60 handicap over two miles. He had his three qualifying runs to get his handicap mark in hot novice company last season, and since then has spent his time over hurdles. Although he is still waiting to get his head in front, he has shown enough over timber to suggest that if he can transfer that form to the flat he will be competitive, our stable apprentice Aiden Brookes takes the ride.
Up at Hexham Who's The Guv'Nor has been declared for the first race at 4.45.pm, a maiden hurdle over two miles. Who's The Gov'Nor showed he is a horse of above average ability when finishing second at Market Rasen in May, but was very disappointing on his return to that track a month later, when finishing tailed off. It is possible that the two miles and seven furlongs that day was too far for him at that stage of his career, and the ground may also have been too soft. He has had a short break since to refresh, Alian Cawley retains the ride.
The Pine Martin will make his chase debut at 7.15.pm, over three miles in 0-105 handicap, with Alain Cawley taking the mount. The Pine Martin joined us from Ireland in 2017, and won first time out at Hexham, he followed up with a second place finish also at Hexham two weeks later, but he was then sidelined by injury for over two and a half years. Since his return he has been placed third on two occasions, but he has not hit those initial heights as yet. He starts out over fences from an 9lb lower mark than that first Hexham success.
