THREE RUNNERS AT SEDGEFIELD ON THURSDAY.

The going for Sedgefield on Thursday at the time of writing is good to firm, good in places, and they are watering.

First up at 2.30.pm, in a 0-100 handicap chase over two miles and five furlongs is Onenightintown who will once again have the assistance of Becky Smith in the saddle. Onenightintown finally got off the mark at the 28th attempt when looking like a completely different horse at Market Rasen last time, and what he has to do now is show that wasn't a fluke. Onenightintown was stepping up to two miles and five furlongs, but the probable reasoning for the improved run was that he sat off a fast pace, as those in front did too much too soon. and he was able to pick up the pieces. He has been raised 4lb which is fair, in what appears to be a better class race than last time.

Who's The Guv'Nor will face just two rivals at 3.30.pm in the 0-120 handicap chase over two miles and five furlongs where he will be partnered by the champion jockey Brian Hughes, who was also on board when Who's The Guv'Nor won back to back races in June and July at Market Rasen. On his return to that track 19 days ago he wasn't so good when stepping up by four furlongs to two miles and seven furlongs, where he weakened very quickly having been in front from about two and a half furlongs out.

Our final runner is Balkotic who goes to post for the 4.05.pm, in a 0-110 handicap hurdle over the marathon three miles and three furlongs, with Becky Smith retaining the ride. Balkotic was a comfortable winner over this course and distance in May from a 3lb lower mark than now, and a repeat of that would probably be good enough to see him go very close. He has since put in a lack lustre run at Southwell, and last time at Worcester seven weeks ago he made a bad mistake at the first, and in the circumstances did very well to finish a three and three quarter lengths third.
