We send three to Wetherby on Tuesday, on ground that is currently described as good, good to soft in places.
Bodygroove is first up at 2.00.pm, in the 0-100 conditional jockeys handicap hurdle, over two miles, with Joshua Thompson in the saddle for the first time. Bodygroove has now run three times over hurdles, and his opening handicap mark of 95 was earned on his debut for us at Carlisle just over a year ago. When that mark is judged against his winning flat rating of 63 from July 2023, it looks more than reasonable. He made his seasonal debut when finishing down the field at Sedgefield in February, which will have brought him on.
Geryville ran a cracker when winning over this course and distance from a 3lb lower mark than now on his penultimate start in January, but he then ran inexplicably bad at Carlisle last time, when some poor jumping didn't help his cause. When Geryville is in form he generally runs his race, so that run was quite a surprise. If he is back to that Wetherby form he will give them all something to think about. Geryville runs at 2.30.pm, in 0-120 handicap chase, over two miles and three furlongs, with Brian Hughes, who has won on him previously, back in the saddle.
The lightly raced Isabel De Clare, who has run in two bumpers, has her fifth start over hurdles at 3.00.pm, in the mares only maiden hurdle, over two miles and three furlongs, with Conor O'Farrell on board for the first time. Isabel De Clare made her handicap debut over this course and distance last time when finishing fifth, and not matching the best of her previous form. Her other two hurdles runs over this course and distance give her every chance of being involved at the business end in this company.
