We have three runners on Tuesday at Carlisle, where the going is currently described as good to soft on the hurdles course, and good, good to soft in places on the chase course.
The seven year old gelding Donny's Fortune will make his rules and stable debut at 1.33.pm, in the two and a half miles maiden hurdle, with Brian Hughes taking the ride. Donny's Fortune who has two above average winning half siblings in his family, is already the winner of two of his 12 English point to points, having raced out of two previous yards. There is no doubt that his future will lie over fences, on what will be his first start since April.
Cornerstone Lad was the winner of the 2019 'Betfair Fighting Fifth Hurdle Grade 1,' which saw him earn the prestigious rating of 159 BHA, and 159 RPR. Cornerstone Lad is now 10 years old and has spent the last five seasons over fences, notably winning from a mark of 140 back in 2022 at Wetherby. As long as he continues to enjoy his racing he will continue to run, and give his connections great pleasure and continued pride in his past efforts. Cornerstone Lad can go well fresh, but doesn't want the ground too quick. He runs at 2.05.pm, in the 0-130 veterans chase, over two miles and four furlongs, with Brian Hughes taking the ride.
Getaway Jewel remains too well handicapped to be ignored, but must not race on going with soft in the description if you want to get the best out of him. He raced over hurdles at Newcastle 19 days ago, when only going down by three and a quarter lengths, despite not having the pace to show his best in that discipline. He is now 13lb below his last winning mark, but keep an eye on the weather. Getaway Jewel runs at 3.15.pm, over two miles, in the 0-105 handicap chase, with Brian Hughes, who has won on him four times previously, back in the saddle.
