We have four runners declared for Wetherby on Saturday, where the going at the time of writing is riding soft.
Justus who is a mid 70's rated horse on the flat, will make his stable, and hurdling debut for us at 12.09.pm, in a novice hurdle, over the extended two miles and three furlongs, with the champion jockey Brian Hughes taking the ride. Justus stays forever on the flat, and also has won on soft ground, so things auger well that he will take to the winter game.
Singapore Trip is another runner who will make his British an stable debut at 1.19.pm, in the 0-130 handicap hurdle, over the extended two miles and three furlongs, with Brian Hughes taking the ride. Singapore Trip is the winner of three hurdle races and two flat races from his 33 starts to date in France, and he will have no ground concerns. His opening mark of 109 looks fair, but we will know a lot more after this.
In his hey day Cornerstone Lad was the winner of the Betfair Fighting Fifth Hurdle Grade 1, in 2019, he never reached the same heights as a chaser, but still has managed a win off 140. Cornerstone Lad who can go well fresh, will start this season from a very attractive looking mark of 129, and this step up in trip will suit. He goes to post for the 0-140 handicap, over two miles and three furlongs, with Brian Hughes replacing Conor O'Farrell, who is still recuperating from injury.
Le Grand Vert returns from a 232 day break, when contesting the 0-115 conditional jockeys handicap hurdle at 3.39.pm, over three miles, with Emma Smith-Chaston on board for the first time. Le Grand Vert was an encourageable runner up from 1lb higher mark at Newcastle back in March, and is potentially well handicapped, considering that he was rated 114 back in February 2022.
