It's an exciting day for the yard on Tuesday, as we send a team of six up to Sedgefield, as the jump season for us steps up another gear. The going at the time of writing is described as good.
We have three of the 11 runners in the first race at 1.0.pm, which is a 0-105 conditional jockeys handicap hurdle. over the extended two miles. Ambassador who has won five of his six races at Uttoxeter, will have Alice Stevens in the saddle for the first time. Ambassador won at Uttoxeter back in July for which the handicapper reacted with a 7lb rise. He has since run well on the flat at Catterick, before under performing at Southwell last time.
We also run Belle Na Bann in the race. She was at her best when winning at Newcastle in December, and then again at Catterick on New Years Day. She was last seen when finishing second at Perth back in May, and starts her new season 3lb above her last winning mark. She made her seasonal reappearance in this corresponding race last year when finishing fifth. Bell Na Bann will be ridden by Emma Smith-Chaston, who has won on her twice previously.
Our other representative in the race is Milajess who will be ridden by Joshua Thompson for the first time. Milajess was second in a Clonmel maiden hurdle before joining us in the summer of last year, and in 10 starts for us her standout piece of form is a length and three quarters second at Uttoxeter on her penultimate start back in June, she now runs again from that same mark.
Not many horses arrive from Poland to race in the UK, but Stellarmasterpiece came with those credentials, having raced on 11 occasions at Sluzewiec, in Warsaw, where she was a winner over nine furlongs. It must have been a nightmare for the handicapper to give her a mark, but thankfully it was only 55, which proved to be on the lenient side, as Stellarmasterpiece took advantage with a neck success at Catterick back in May. She now makes her hurdles debut, and should be competitive in races like this around Sedgefield. Stellarmasterpiece goes to post for the maiden hurdle at 1.35.pm, over the extended two miles, with Emma Smith-Chaston taking the ride.
Onenightintown was at the top of his form back in February when winning well at Catterick, then following that up with a second at Market Rasen to his stablemate Brickadank later in the month. He was pulled up the next twice, but got somewhat back on track when finishing fourth at Market Rasen back in August. Onenightintown runs at 3.20.pm, in the 0-100 handicap chase, over two miles and five furlongs, with Alice Stevens, who won on him back in February, retaining the ride.
You Say Its Over has finished runner up on four of her 11 hurdles starts to date, and made a pleasing comeback from a nine months break when finishing fourth in maiden hurdle company at Uttoxeter 30 days ago. You Say Its Over is proving to be a willing type, and any easing of the ground would be in her favour. She runs at 3.55.pm, in the 0-100 mares only handicap hurdle, over two miles and five furlongs, with Joshua Thompson retaining the ride.
