SHIGHNESS RETURNS TO MARKET RASEN.

We have two runners on Wednesday, with Howzat Hiris turning out at Newcastle, where the going is currently heavy, and Shighness returning to Market Rasen for the third time in her last four starts, where the going at the time of writing is soft, good to soft in places.

Howzat Hiris needs a test of stamina, so the heavy ground at Newcastle should be to her advantage (she is proven on soft.) She ran right up to her best at Ayr last time, when staying on into third in first time cheek pieces, and if the equipment has the same effect again, she should be in the shake up. The race is a 0-100 Conditional Jockeys handicap hurdle at 1.15.pm, over the extended two miles and seven furlongs, with Josh Thompson retaining the ride.

Shighness returns to Market Rasen where she will go to post for the 3.45.pm, a 0-120 handicap hurdle over two miles and seven furlongs, with Billy Garritty who has already won on her three times back in the saddle. Shighness was a clear cut winner at this track from a 5lb lower mark back in February in a race which has worked out well, but on her return there 17 days ago she was a shade below that after making a couple of mid race errors. To her credit she was keeping on again after the last, and another big run is on the cards.
