We have seven runners on Friday, where our four entries at Cartmel will race on ground currently described as good. Our two runners at Chester will face predicted good, good to firm conditions, and on the all weather at Newcastle we have one representative.
Grange Ranger makes a quick reappearance just five days after staying on into third at Hexham, over a trip that would have been a bare minimum. Providing the race doesn't come too quickly then this step back up to the extended three miles and one furlong will suit. He runs at 2.30.pm, in a 0-120 handicap chase, with the champion jockey Brian Hughes on board for the first time.
Onenightintown will also appreciate the step back up in trip, when he contests the 0-100 handicap chase at 3.05.pm, over two miles and five furlongs, with Conor O'Farrell taking the ride. Onenightintown is now just 1lb above his last winning mark at Sedgefield last September, and he should have ground conditions to suit.
Carrigeen Konini was pulled up on her yard debut at Huntingdon just over seven weeks ago, on what was only her second start over fences. When trained in Ireland she has managed two third placings from 12 starts, but her mark of 90 is her lowest yet. She runs at 3.40.pm, in the 0-100 handicap chase, over the extended three miles and one furlong, with Miss Alice Stevens retaining the ride.
You Say Its Over only made her yard debut five days ago when finishing a 23 lengths sixth at Hexham. In Ireland in three point to points, and four bumpers she also failed to get competitive, and she will be seen to better effect once given a handicap mark. She runs in the maiden hurdle at 4.15.pm, over two miles and six furlongs, with Conor O'Farrell retaining the ride.
Patasola was claimed at Beverley in May after finishing third, and then on her yard debut in a good class maiden at Carlisle 11 days ago, she could only manage ninth. She now runs in a £18,000 seller at Chester, and although the race is not as good as the Carlisle race, it is still above average for selling grade. Whether Patasola will get seven furlongs at this stage of here career is an unknown, but there will be better opportunities once the nursery season begins. She goes to post for the 6.50.pm, with Aiden Brookes in the saddle.
Mandega is our other runner at Chester, in the 0-85 handicap, over 10 furlongs at 8.30.pm, with Aiden Brookes taking the ride. Mandega who makes his yard debut for us, was claimed after finishing second at Fontainebleau in March, and has been given time to settle in to his new surroundings. In 28 starts in France he has won on three occasions, and been placed on a further 11 of those runs. The handicapper normally doesn't take any chances with French recruits, so we shall see if the opening mark of 77 is workable or not.
Expert Lady is our runner at Newcastle. In two starts to date she has looked very green, although she did progress a little from her first start to her second. She runs at 7.45.pm, over seven furlongs, with Cam Hardie retaining the ride. She should be eligible for a handicap mark after this run.
