One of the highlights of the summer jumping campaign is the Betway Summer Plate Handicap Chase, a Grade 3 contest worth £40,000, run at Market Rasen on Saturday, and we have a representative in Royal Village.
The race is at 2.40.pm, over the extended two miles and five furlongs, with our stable conditional jockey Emma Smith-Chaston taking off a very valuable 7lb.
Royal Village has a tremendous record around Market Rasen where he is already a three times winner. He has also finished second in this corresponding race from a 7lb higher mark, when trained in another yard, back in 2018. He was a fortuitous winner over this course and distance, from the same current mark of 130 when last seen 13 days ago, but he had seen off the other two opponents with ease. Royal Village should get his favoured conditions of good ground, and maybe give us a very memorable day.
