PIECEDERESISTANCE TO STEP BACK IN TRIP.

We have two runners on Monday, with Piecederesistance declared for Ripon, and Ballylinch making the trip down to Worcester, both tracks at the time of writing state the going as good, good to firm in places.

Ballylinch runs in the two miles and four furlongs novices hurdle at 3.45.pm, with Alice Stevens taking the ride. When trained in Ireland, Ballylinch ran in 11 point to points, winning once, and placing on a further four occasions. He made his stable debut at Market Rasen 17 days ago, when finishing a respectable fourth, but this is a better race on paper, so he will need to step up on that run in order to play a part here.

Piecederesistance finds himself in slightly calmer waters this time, after racing on the last two occasions at York, where on both starts he was too keen, so this step back down in trip by two furlongs looks a plus. His best form came at this time last year when winning with authority at Pontefract, from a 2lb higher mark than now. He goes to post for the 7.55.pm, which is a 0-90 handicap, over the extended nine furlongs, with Billy Garritty who was on board that day at Pontefract, back in the saddle.
