We have two runners at Pontefract on Tuesday for the start of their 2025 season, on ground that is described as good, and they are watering.
Value Added who was bred by the late Queen Elizabeth II goes first at 2.32.pm, in the 0-70 handicap, over one mile and four furlongs, with Aiden Brookes retaining the ride. Value Added who steps up in trip to this distance for the first time was a winner on the flat back in July 2023, and has now raced for us twice since arriving at the yard a few months ago. She has run respectfully in both of those races, and this race represents a drop in grade, as the handicapper has relented by 9lb.
Justus was the winner of the 'Jamaican Flight' handicap a year ago, and will attempt to defend his crown at 3.02.pm, in this years 0-75 renewal, over the stamina sapping two miles and two furlongs, with his regular rider Aiden Brookes in the saddle. Justus who followed up that success a year ago with another win at Ripon starts out this term from only 1lb higher, although he did come into the race last year race fit having also been successful over hurdles. This is his first start since last October, and although he has form on good ground, he probably wouldn't want it any faster.
