We have two declared on the all weather at Southwell on Wednesday, where the Tapeta surface is riding as standard.
Bunker Bay who missed his intended engagement at Southwell last week because of travel issues, returns to the course and distance he ran above expectations at two weeks ago, where he was in contention until weakening inside the final furlong. Since arriving at the yard in the winter Bunker Bay had failed to get competitive in five goes over hurdles, so this return to form on the flat was most welcome. He was a winner on the flat for his previous yard from 2lb higher than now in July 2023, and will were blinkers for the first time here. Bunker Bay runs at 8.00.pm, in the 0-68 handicap, over one mile and three furlongs, with Aiden Brookes retaining the ride.
Fiftyshadesaresdev is our other representative at 8.30.pm, in the 0-55 handicap, over the extended two miles, with his regular rider Aiden Brookes in the saddle. Fiftyshadesaresdev proved how versatile he is trip wise when stepping up to this distance for the first time, and finishing third at this track 12 days ago. He was just done for speed that day, having led until they quickened three out, but to his credit he was keeping on, and he has now finished second or third on 11 occasions. If he stays as consistent then his turn in the number one spot will surely come.
