FOSTER'SISLAND RETIRES ON A HIGH.

Foster'sisland was retired after finishing an excellent third at Kelso on Tuesday afternoon, bringing to an end a well above average career that included winning six of his 36 starts over hurdles, he also ran in four bumpers (one was a jumpers bumper) finishing second, and third twice, and his race record is completed by a racecourse debut when finishing third in a point to point before he joined us in May 2019. It is fitting that Foster'sisland made his rules debut under Emma Smith-Chaston, as she also rode him on his final start, and another 27 times in between, winning on him on four occasions.

After showing useful bumper form Foster'sisland took his time to find his feet over hurdles, which played into his hands as he was given an opening mark of just 91, a good base for him to start his winning spree from. After five wins from eight starts between February 2022 to December 2022, his rating had climbed to 123. His final win came in March 2023 at Bangor where he recorded his best BHA rating of 129. As age began to catch up with him he failed to win again, but as his final race proved he was was as game as ever, always giving 100%. He bows out with his head held high, and deserves a long and peaceful retirement.
