FOSTER'SISLAND & JUSTUS DECLARED ON KELSO'S BIG DAY.

Kelso stage the most prestigious meeting of their season on Saturday, on what is 'Morebattle' Day, where the going is currently described as good to soft.

Foster'sisland has had wind surgery since finishing fifth at Wetherby four weeks ago, and will take his chance in the £30,000 Class 2, 0-150 handicap hurdle, over the extended two miles and four furlongs, at 1.42.pm, with his regular rider Emma Smith-Chaston on board. In four starts this term Foster'sisland has not been in quite the same form as he was last season, although he was an excellent second at Wetherby on his penultimate start. With the wind operation done, this most consistent of horses deserves a crack at a big prize.

Justus also gets to have a go at big prize money, when he contests the £55,000, Grade 2, Premier Novices Hurdle, at 2.17.pm, over two miles and two furlongs, with Emma Smith-Chaston retaining the ride. Justus who is a well above average horse on the flat, has taken well to hurdles, and after winning at Catterick on New Years Day, he improved again to finish runner up at Doncaster 34 days ago. This is a significant step up in class, but this tough gelding will give of his best.
