We have two runners at Redcar on Saturday, where the going is currently good to firm, and they have been watering.
Carnival Zain has run all of his three races at York this season, and the form figures of '708' do not tell the story, particularly on his latest start 15 days ago, when from an awful draw in stall 18, he showed that all the old zest is still there when going down by just three and a half lengths, when doing all of his best work late on. He now steps back up to a mile, a trip which suits well, from the plum draw, and 3lb lower, in first time cheek-pieces. The race is a 0-80 handicap, at 3.12.pm, with Aiden Brookes retaining the ride.
King Of Unicorns was off the track for almost a year before returning at Carlisle in June. He was entitled to need that first run back, and then he probably didn't stat the extended two miles at York next time. His latest start was at Redcar 20 days ago over the same trip as now, where he weakened from two out, to finish a nine and a quarter lengths sixth, from a 3lb higher mark than now. King Of Unicorns also wears first time cheek-pieces when he goes to post for the 0-60 handicap, over one mile and six furlongs, with Aiden Brookes once again in the saddle.
