BEAT THE RETREAT TO MAKE YARD DEBUT.

We have four declared runners at two jumps meetings on Tuesday, with two going to Sedgefield, where the going is currently good, good to soft in places, and two going to Southwell, where the going is also currently described as good, good to soft in places.

At Southwell Duo D'Enfer makes his seasonal debut at 1.05.pm, in the 0-110 handicap chase, over two miles and four furlongs, where he will be partnered by Emma Smith-Chaston, who was on board for both of his wins last term. Duo D'Enfer who will appreciate any cut underfoot is now back down to his last winning mark, but is entitled to need this first run since April.

You Say Its Over is another who would probably be aided by any rain, when she goes to post for the 0-100 conditional jockeys handicap hurdle at 3.40.pm, over three miles, with Joshua Thompson being able to claim a handy 8lb, as he is riding for his retained stable. You Say Its Over was last seen three weeks ago at Sedgefield, when once again running a genuine race, and although finishing eighth, she was only beaten by five and a half lengths. She is now effectively 4lb better off.

Royle Steel who missed his intended engagement at Hexham last Wednesday when it was abandoned, reroutes to Sedgefield, and goes to post for the 0-100 handicap hurdle, at 1.25.pm, over the extended two miles, with William Maggs having his first ride for the yard. Royle Steel who is a winner over hurdles, spent the whole of last season over fences producing his outstanding effort when winning from a 8lb higher mark at Sedgefield in October 2023. His five subsequent runs have failed to reach the same level, hence his drop in the weights. Royle Steel goes best on a sound surface, and is entitled to need this first start since June.

The seven year old gelding Beat The Retreat makes his stable debut at 3.00.pm, in the 0-105 handicap chase, over two miles and five furlongs, where he will be partnered by Brian Hughes, who has ridden twice previously. Beat The Retreat comes to us with a very good looking handicap mark, being 12lb below his last winning mark, and 14lb below the mark when he finished third in this corresponding race last season. This will be his first start since June, on ground that should not present any problems.
