Ballylinch who had been an Irish point to point winner back in February, and had three runs in novice hurdles since arriving at the yard, stepped up markedly in trip for this his handicap chase debut at Sedgefield on Sunday, when from a very fair looking mark of 88, he stayed on strongly up the short run in for a two lengths success, under the champion jockey Brian Hughes.
This success was extra special for his owner John Burnett, as this was his very first win as an owner, but judged on Ballylinch's attitude, and his generous handicap mark, it wont be his last.
