We have two runners at Perth on Wednesday, who will both be suited by the forecast soft, heavy in places going, and they are expecting further rain.
Bandit D'Ainay who was the winner of four races in France when conditions were soft underfoot, will go to post for the 3.30.pm, a 0-100 handicap chase, over two miles and four furlongs, where he will be partnered by the champion jockey Brian Hughes. Bandit D'Ainay was very unlucky when last seen at Cartmel 30 days ago, when being hampered after the first fence, which caused him to unseat. He now steps up in trip for the first time since June 2022.
Applaus has run many of his best races when returning from a break, and this will be his first ever visit to Perth, on what is his 48 rules start. Applaus was last in the winners enclosure at his favourite track Carlisle back in February, from a 5lb lower mark than now when partnered by Emma Smith-Chaston, who is back on board here. The race is a 0-120 handicap hurdle, over two miles at 4.05.pm.
