Trouble Shooter will make his stable debut for us on Saturday at 3.55.pm, in a 0-60 extended two miles handicap on the Tapeta at Newcastle, where it will probably ride on the slow side. Trouble Shooter is a very versatile horse who appears to act on a variety of surfaces, and is a previous winner here at Newcastle. He is the winner of five races already, from distances from 10 furlongs, to two miles, and has been bought as a dual purpose performer. He starts out for us with P.J. McDonald in the saddle.
Carnival Zain makes the trip down to Ascot to compete in the 0-90, seven furlongs handicap for female Amateur jockeys, with Becky Smith taking the ride. Carnival Zain made a most encouraging stable debut for us at York over a mile 15 days ago when finishing a three and a half lengths sixth of the 19 runners. The predicted going at Ascot is good to firm, a surface this ex French gelding has never run on. His previous French form suggests that this seven furlongs is a bare minimum, but if he can build on the York run from a 1lb lower mark, he may well be competitive.
