A MEMORABLE DAY AT SEDGEFIELD.
We have had many wonderful days at Sedgefield over the years with doubles and trebles, and on Tuesday afternoon our representatives showed that the current string are in rude health, with a double that was very nearly a treble, as our final runner Trac went down fighting to finish a gallant runner up.
COUP DE COEUR 2/1 WINNER!!!!!!!
Coup De Coeur took another step forward in the novice hurdle, in the hands of the champion jockey Brian Hughes, when comfortably winning by six and a half lengths. Coup De Coeur had finished third over this same course and distance 19 days ago, the way he won this race suggests that he has already improved on that run. With his likeable attitude, there should be lots more fun to come during the current campaign.
CONTRE ORDRE 4/1 WINNER!!!!!!!
Contre Ordre has taken his time to acclimatise since arriving from France just over a year ago, but on his last start at Sedgefield he signified that a win could be just around the corner when finishing a fine fourth on his first start in nearly seven months. His jockey Emma Smith-Chaston gave him a brilliant ride, when holding her ground, when no lesser a jockey than Brian Hughes tried to force his mount past Contre Ordre at a crucial stage, but Emma showed that she is now the full package by not being intimidated, and holding her ground, which was more than likely the difference between winning and losing.
