Lauren Lucas, Stable Girl and Work Rider
Lauren joined Micky Hammond Racing straight from the Northern Racing College in September 2013, and quickly made a huge impression on the team. She threw herself into the job, and did everything she was asked and more. As a natural in the saddle, she became a hugely popular member of Middleham’s racing community, and played a major role in Micky Hammond’s upturn in fortunes, proving a flagbearer for the yard and giving the benefit of her experience to any new members of staff. Lauren, known as “Loz” around the stables, left in December 2015 to work for Sophie Leech, but has since returned home to Micky Hammond. She was a finalist in the 2016 Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff awards in the David Nicholson Newcomer category, giving her due recognition for her contribution to Micky Hammond Racing’s recent success.
