Gemma Hogg, Assistant Trainer
Gemma has worked for Micky Hammond Racing since 2008. She has been Assistant Trainer for the last 9 years, and is Micky’s right hand girl when it comes to anything racing.
If Micky needs anything doing well, he will turn to Gemma. She deals with anything from entries and declarations, and running the office, to helping out with feeding, cleaning, and generally mucking out around the stables. Not only does Gemma partake in the racing industry for herself, but she also helps others. With NVQ levels 1,2, and 3 under her belt, she is also now the team’s mentor for new staff, and staff that are currently working towards their NVQ level 2 or 3. Gemma’s hard work and commitment to Micky Hammond Racing led to her being named Employee of the Year at the 2016 Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Awards, as well as winning the Leadership category
Gemma has ridden a winner under rules, bringing Micky’s Charlotte Vale home in front of amateur riders’ handicap at Hamilton in June 2007. She has also raised an incredible £2,500 for Greatwood, after competing in a charity race at Cheltenham with the horse Amir Pasha.
The racing enthusiast is married to Tim Hogg, who until recently, was Head Man at George Moore’s neighbouring stables, and who now works for Jedd O’Keeffe When she isn’t riding or looking after Micky Hammond Racing, she likes to go out for meals with her friends, go to the cinema, and loves to look after her puppy, Izzy.
